The funded rollout establishes installed projects and published learning. It does not establish the financial terms or completed outcomes of the separate private-finance PPA pilot.

Government-reported combined outcome
The July 2026 announcement reports around £23,000 of first-year savings following solar and other efficiency measures.
Evidence boundary: No solar-only breakdown or reconciled invoices are published in the announcement.
Leadership implication: Ask for separate generation, consumption and tariff effects before attributing a bill reduction to panels.
Examine the sourceDelivery report and projected annual saving
LocatED describes 36.75kWp of solar, LEDs and two EV charging points. It reports 24% lower gas use and 36% lower electricity use, with £8,500 annual savings projected.
Evidence boundary: This is a package of interventions. The annual financial figure remains a projection, not a solar-only audited return.
Leadership implication: Link infrastructure to staff and pupil behaviour. The school describes sustainability champions, switch-off campaigns and pupil-designed reminders.

The June 2025 government table records 18kWp, 16,170kWh annual generation, £4,500 annual savings and eight-year simple payback.
Evidence boundary: These are published estimates. The trust’s wider webpage mixes older projects with later programme work, so its separate performance percentages are excluded from this GBE comparison.
Leadership implication: Require a project-specific baseline and financial record. A participant’s wider sustainability programme cannot establish the effect of this installation.
Examine the sourceGovernment projection; participant delivery context
The March 2026 government release describes 28 panels and £3,000 projected annual solar savings. BPET dates the installation to October 2025.
Evidence boundary: The separate 35% electricity-use reduction concerns wider efficiency activity. It should not be added to the solar projection as another measured solar benefit.
Leadership implication: Connect monitoring and pupil learning to the project, while keeping the financial evidence attributable.

The September 2025 table gives 80kW, £228,137 project cost and £8,100 estimated annual net savings. A subsequent government statement reports resources purchased from lower energy costs.
Evidence boundary: An estimate and a positive school statement are not a reconciled annual savings series. Project cost is not a present-day market quote.
Leadership implication: Record what the school can demonstrate financially and what it reports about educational reinvestment.

The programme portal describes Notre Dame, St Boniface, St Joseph’s Poole and St Mary’s Axminster: £286,600 grant funding, 310kWp and anticipated generation of 286,980kWh annually. Installation was completed in late March 2025.
Evidence boundary: These are delivery-account totals, not metered annual production. Differently dated government tables use different rounded capacities; they are not silently combined.
Leadership implication: Survey and scope interventions, obtain approval, coordinate the installation window and retain handover information. Apply this sequence to the school’s own constraints.
Examine the sourceParticipant evidence: BPET’s school-specific account and St Joseph’s pupil activities. Participation is supported by the official rosters; a participant’s own claims remain attributed rather than independently audited.
These government tables provide scale and variation, not current installer quotations or PPA prices. Annual generation and savings are planning estimates; simple payback is not discounted value or a PPA contract term.

The November roster was explicitly conditional on surveys. DfE’s PPA guidance requires good roof condition and value-for-money assessment. Record roof life, electrical constraints, ownership and planned works before treating a site as ready.
LEDs, controls and behaviour changes can reduce demand before solar is sized. Match the revised half-hourly load with expected generation. Keep holidays, community lettings, kitchen electrification and future equipment visible.
Retain design and commissioning records, warranties, isolation instructions, monitoring access and responsibilities for faults and maintenance. The programme’s school manuals and reports offer a starting point; use the documents for the actual site.
Keep generation, onsite consumption, export and grid imports separately metered. Compare matching periods and tariff components, explain changes in occupancy and efficiency measures, and distinguish estimated savings from invoice-supported savings.
No public source reviewed supplies a complete, independently audited outcome dataset for every funded school. Missing costs or generation records stay missing. We do not infer a school’s PPA tariff, eligibility, current completion status or guaranteed return from a government roster.
Public grant-funded returns cannot be transferred directly to a privately financed agreement: the school’s payments, ownership, retained costs and risk allocation change the comparison. School accounts and government statements are useful evidence, but differently dated claims must not be joined into an invented measurement series.
